Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday, October 19, 2026, flagged off the distribution of farm inputs, productive assets and processing equipment to 49,337 more beneficiaries in Ilorin, Premium Times reported.
The distribution runs under FADAMA CARES 2.0, the agricultural component of the World Bank-supported Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme. The report gave no funding figure for this phase. The details were set out in a statement by Mashood Agboola, deputy chief press secretary to the governor.
What Farmers Are Receiving
The new round covers inputs for rice, maize and soybean production, along with knapsack sprayers, water pumps, power tillers, grinding machines, rice mills, cassava-processing equipment, fish-smoking kilns and commercial boats, ThisDay reported. Neither report gave quantities for individual items.
Earlier rounds reached 186,230 beneficiaries. Of these, 54,332 received inputs and services, and 131,898 received productive and processing assets across 10 agricultural value chains. With the new phase, the government puts the cumulative total at 235,567, according to Premium Times.
Governor: Remove the Barriers
AbdulRazaq said the state's aim is to help farmers produce more, lose less after harvest, process better and reach wider markets. "Our duty is to remove these barriers and obstacles so that their labour pays," he said at the Ilorin flag-off, Premium Times reported.
Commissioner for Finance Hauwa Nuru, who chairs the state's NG-CARES Steering Committee, said Kwara is among the leading states on delivery and reimbursement under the programme, according to ThisDay.
Tractors and Federal Fertiliser
Olohuntoyosi Thomas, the Commissioner for Livestock who also supervises the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the state has deployed 48 tractors and two bulldozers across its 16 local government areas. She also said 2,016 Kwara farmers have received 8,064 bags of NPK fertiliser through the federal Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme, Premium Times reported. That works out to four bags per farmer.
Busari Toyin Isiaka, the state FADAMA NG-CARES project coordinator, described the programme's purpose and listed the items being distributed. Isiaka Yakub Falala, state chairman of the Federated FADAMA Community Association, thanked the governor for supporting farmers, ThisDay reported.
Why It Matters
Rice and maize are two of the staples whose prices weigh most on household budgets. The National Bureau of Statistics listed local rice and maize flour among the items whose average prices fell in September 2026, contributing to a 1.55% monthly drop in food prices, Vanguard reported.
FoodPrices Nigeria tracks rice, maize and garri across Lagos markets. More output and better processing in producing states such as Kwara feed the national supply that sets what Lagos shoppers pay.
