Garri prices held steady across Lagos in the week of 25 September 2026. FoodPrices Nigeria data from the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems market survey shows Garri (White) unchanged at a mean of ₦1,260 per paint across 10 markets, and Garri (Yellow) down ₦2 from ₦1,380 to ₦1,378 across 9 markets, a 0.14% decline on the week of 18 September. Garri (Ijebu) held at ₦1,200 per paint across 5 markets.
The Market Gap Is the Story
A steady mean hides wide differences between markets. Garri (Yellow) costs ₦1,000 a paint at Mile 12 Market and ₦1,600 at Agege Market, a 60% premium. Garri (White) runs from ₦1,000 at Oyingbo Market to ₦1,500 at Sabo Market Yaba, a 50% premium. Garri (Ijebu) runs from ₦1,000 at Mile 12 Market to ₦1,400 at Ajah Market, a 40% premium.
Mile 12 Market is the cheapest place in Lagos for both yellow and Ijebu garri this week. A household that buys three paints of yellow garri a month spends ₦3,000 at Mile 12 Market and ₦4,800 at Agege Market, a ₦1,800 difference every month.
Yellow Costs More Than White
At the citywide mean, Garri (Yellow) at ₦1,378 costs 9.37% more per paint than Garri (White) at ₦1,260. Garri (Ijebu), at ₦1,200, is the cheapest of the three by mean, 4.76% below white garri, though it is tracked in only 5 markets.
What Other Surveys Say
Legit.ng reported on 3 October that garri was among ten items that became cheaper in Nigeria in September. It put a 50kg bag of yellow garri down from ₦21,000 in August to ₦18,000 in September, a 14.29% fall, and white garri down from ₦22,000 to ₦19,500, an 11.36% fall. Those bag prices agree with FoodPrices Nigeria data that garri is not getting dearer. The flat weekly reading at the paint level suggests the September fall in bag prices has now settled at the retail measure Lagos households buy.
